Stamford Shoestring Theatre has another play coming up with some local talent back stage, on stage and play director. The production is The Playboy of the Western World and runs from Tues 10 – Sat 14 June 7.45pm at the Stamford Arts Centre.
“This savage comic play’s Dublin premiere in 1907 provoked an audience riot. Nevertheless this remarkable drama survived, now regarded as Synge’s masterpiece, enduringly popular worldwide. Set on the West coast of County Mayo this lyrical comedy is based on a true story of a young dreamer who arrives, a starnger, in the village ‘shebeen’ seeking refuge. He claims to have killed his father; his passionate story-telling bewitches the locals; he becomes a celebrity, but – there’s a twist in the tale!”
Tickets £10 (£8) available from Stamford Arts Centre
